Obviously I’m not fuzzi but the main reason people do it is to prevent animals from getting to it. Once they are around half ripe they will continue to ripen and end up basically the same as if you left it on the vineWhy didn't you let the tomatoes open on the vine?

I do the same because we haven’t had much of an issue but a counter tomato is better than no tomatoSpeaking only for myself, I prefer the flavor of tomatoes that are ripened on the vine in the sun.
The stink bugs are bad this year. They chew into the tomatoes once they get close to ripe, so I harvest once there's a blush on the fruits, so I don't lose them altogether. They'll continue to ripen off the vine.Why didn't you let the tomatoes open on the vine?
