Your 2025 Garden

Watered my garden today. Replanted(for the 2nd time) more bean seeds. Different seeds than I used before. They still haven't come up yet and it's been a week! I'm simply baffled about why most of my beans are not coming up. Well, I have 13 good looking plants but that will not be nearly enough to eat and can. I've never had issues with beans before. Very glad two of my sisters and my mom have beans planted, too. They'll share

Some people have found that soaking the beans in water for a few hours speeds up the germination.

Between being in beautiful upstate NY for 3 weeks this spring and 2 different week-long trips to colorful Colorado in June, between the 2-3-4 day deluges alternating with 10 days to 2 weeks 90+° droughts, between the heater in the greenhouse dying in the middle of winter followed by a storm that took half the panels to let the chickens and ducks in to snack during baby plant season, I'm just counting my blessings that anything is growing. Then I look around and realize I've got tomatoes, peppers, corn, pumpkin, squash, melons, herbs, and so much more growing. Nature is amazing and God is good.

I looked these up and the Internet says they're a winter squash but are often eaten like a summer squash because they're so tasty. Which way do you enjoy them?
So far I've been eating and freezing as a summer squash, but am going to try saving some to eat later, as winter squash. First time growing them.

Ya know, I knew this but forgot about it. I'll try it when I plant more where my garlic is. It's time to pull that. And I have time to plant more and get a late crop of beans
