I'm drafting plans for my fall gardens. I can start collards and cabbage now, carrots, peas, turnips in a couple weeks. I might plant some Summer squash as an experiment.

I try to rotate my crops.

How many varieties do you have? Also, do you save seeds or always purchase new so they come true?

I mostly grow hybrids so no point in saving seeds.

Northern Exposure is a hybrid that is no longer sold. Those I have to clone and keep alive through the winter to have for the garden next year.

I usually plant several new varieties each year as I continue to seek a replacement for Northern Exposure.

Well, I wear a disguise with a wig and big dark glasses, sort of like Elton John. I moon walk backwards to the porch. Quickly drop the bag behind me, never completely turning around.
Then skeee daddle! So far...so good!

When I worked, I would leave a big bag on the break room table. By the end of the day they would all be gone.

When I quit working, I quit growing zucchini. Even before that I would only grow one hill of them.

I was only kidding about the porch drop offs.

I am retired but DH takes produce to work sometimes. They are quickly taken especially any cucumbers or tomatoes. We also give to family members and friends.

I have one hill of zucchini with 3 plants. 1 hill of yellow squash with 3 plants. The seeds were planted in April and both hills have grown and branched a lot. Usually by now the mildew or SVB have done them in. I noticed a slight wilt to 1 of the zucchini plants when I was out there Saturday. So their days are numbered. Not a problem. I'm going to need somewhere for brassicas soon.

I'll be canning tomatoes tomorrow! I have NEVER canned this early! I got a 5 gallon bucket nearly full, so I'm guesstimating 4-5 quarts.

There is a fair amount of cracking on the tops, and some on the sides. We have had feast and famine on rain and some wicked heat, so that's not surprising.

Next year, I will plant as many tomato plants, but I will take up a lot more space. I thought there was enough room between the rows... Nope.
