Your favorite hatchery?

I have three hatchery birds, they are Ideal and McMurray.

Lately I've found myself so much more interested in heritage and breeder quality chickens, so my goal is to not get any more hatchery.

I guess I like Ideal for their minimum order of five. Or mypetchicken.com, it has a lot of breeds, but I'm not sure if you could really consider that a hatchery.

I like My Pet Chicken because it has a very small minimum of 3 chicks and the four I have from them are good representations of the breed. No, they are not show quality, they have a couple faults and are undersized, but my buff orpingtons have no black in thier tails, and all of them are the correct shape for the most part, and they just look like the breed. I had a very positive experience with them.

i have only ordered chicks once, from mcmurray. and when i order again, i will use mcmurray again.
all arrived alive, no sickies, all sexed correctly, now they are almost 1 year old and still doing fine.
got exactly what i ordered, arrived when they were supposed to, etc... not one problem.
highly recommended.

For me personally:

1st order was from McMurray, all healthy, not very high quality appearance wise, but all were good layers.

2nd order was from Meyer through My Pet Chicken and was a disaster. Long story short I blame Meyers shipping method for only 3 of 25 surviving then only 6 of 25 replacments survivng.

Ordering from Ideal this year. I like the varieties they offer and hope thier quality is a little higher than McMurray

My Grandfather ordered from McMurray for large batched of meat birds and never had a problem except for one year they duplicated his order. 200 extras to find room for!
