Your Hoovers story? Spec. Small order experiences and COVID delivery times

That's so weird. Have you gone into your profile to see the actual order?
I thought I had seen all there was to see but you’re right. Took a few extra clicks but found a tracking number. I think I am in trouble. It noted it was leaving HAWAII last night. HAWAII? WTH did USPS do? Others in my area got Hoover shipments in 2 days back in Feb/March do this make no sense.
Edited to add: postal worker gave me a grim look when I went to confirm they had not arrived. HI was probably the worst place they could go. Package still has to get routed through our metro distribution center. There is a real possibility it will not arrive in time for pickup on Sat. My first and last hatchery order.

Oh that is weird. Don't you need extra papers to even be sent there?

Not sure - but that was my husband’s question when I came back from the post office. Wouldn’t they need special papers to be accepted coming from HI? This turned into an even bigger disaster than I imagined. 😞. I am emailing Hoover’s for info on filing loss because I’m guessing none will make it.

For anyone keeping score. Chicks were shipped Tues, routed to Hawaii, and shipped back to the mainland sometime Thursday night/ Friday. Today is Saturday and I just got notification at 4 pm that they are at the international distribution center in San Francisco. I presume I will be called on Monday to pick them up - 6 days later. I will be calling both Hoover's and USPS Monday morning in an attempt to get an explanation. This is beyond negligence.

I would leave a message at the P.O. just to let them know. I know ours appreciated the heads up and called us in turn when they were in fact, not alive on arrival. It was nice to just know for sure that I shouldn't expect any to be alive when I got there.

Hi everyone - I am looking for feedback from people who have either ordered small numbers from Hoover's (15 min order) and/or ordered in the last year during USPS COVID craziness, especially West coast. What were your ship times? Condition of chicks when they arrived?

I want to order from them because they have the breeds I want, but I've read so many sad stories. Also worried about it taking 3 or more days to get to us in CA. Reading some of the DOA stories it seems like many can be attributed to the small number not being able to stay warm + USPS lag times in 2020. Currently I have an April ship date but second guessing whether I should cancel my order, reschedule for summer, or just try another year during better times.
I posted this on another thread but to answer your question…
I ordered 20 female chicks from Hoover’s instead. 10 died within the 1st 3 days. They gave me a refund but that was somewhat distressing.
I found out this week that I have 2 roosters from that batch and since Hoover’s have a 90% accuracy policy and I only have 10 left, they said there’s nothing they can do. So, sticking with McMurry from now on.
