Your Near Death Experience

I guess the scariest moment I have had was when I had to have surgery and they shut my body down before they shut my mind down. I was gasping for air, it was the worst feeling ever. Something very wrong happened with the anesthesia.

OK here goes, not many people know this whole story. Many moons ago I was working with a battered women's group it was social services of a variety of sorts, anyway I got a call late from a woman whose husband was holding her and the kids hostage. He was drunk and had a gun. So, I call the cops and all, and head on down. The cops were working on a plan to get the kids out the back bedroom window. Mom was afraid the kids would cry if they were handed to a strange man and they knew me so we were handing the kids out to me.

Guy breaks through the bedroom door and snatches the woman by her hair and she's still holding the baby. He pulls the gun on me and tells me to come in the window. We end up in the living room with this drunk waving his gun around and cursing me out - he said I was the reason his wife had got so uppity. He went after his wife and pistol whipped her into a coma. I grabbed the baby, she was about 12-18 months old and hid her behind me against the curtains. Right then the cops busted open the door.

The first cop in does not know what he is facing so he yells to both of us let me see your hands. The guy sitting on the sofa lazily puts both hands in the air. The cop, knowing that the victim can be as dangerous as the guy yells at me let me see your hands. But I was holding the shocked child behind my back. Just as he started to get real jittery and distracted by my refusal the guy grabbed his gun and shot at me. The bullet whizzed past my ear and hit the doorjamb sending pieces of wood into my cheek and neck. Pretty much at the exact same instant the cop shot the guy right between the eyes. Lucky for me the cop was a better shot than the guy. The baby was in shock but she was fine. The mother lived, got a new name and moved with her kids to another state.

The cop and I became good friends. I owe him my life and I know it.

I found another line of work.

Ive been shot at by a burning house, well actual most of them but not by a person. I do carry a gun because some people are hurt because someone wanted them hurt. An those people don't take kindly to me trying to unhurt them.

When I found out that Iraqi's were deliberately targeting the medics it made my blood boil.

Your bleeding the medics save your sorry butt, they don't look to hard to see what side you were on - shooting them should earn you a special place in the afterlife. (And there won't be no virgins there neither!)

Hmmm where to start?
1. My brother tried to drown me when I was 2 because I was competition, I remember laying on the bottom of the trough looking up through the water.
2. A horse rolled on me and caved my lungs, no one knew I was in the arena and a very shadowy person leaned over and blew air into my lungs and left. I was found and taken to the hospital and by rights I should have been dead. They said I hadn't taken a breath in at least 10 minutes before I was found and cpr started.
3. Kicked in the head by a horse, same shadowy person touched my head and took the pain until I was found and taken to the hospital again.
4. Face stepped on by horse causing swelling of the brain.
5. On fire dept. shot at while responding to a cross burning in a yard, grazed my neck.
6. Shot in leg while out riding, felt invisible "hands" holding my leg to slow bleeding for 2 miles back, no one believed me again.
7. Truck blew up on fire call.
8. Pushed into a fire pit on accident when my partner had a heart attack, I was pulled up without a single mark on me but I swear I never hit the bottom I felt someone holding me away from the fire.
9. Tow truck hit by a city bus and rolled, my propane tank came through the rear window of the truck and impaled my collar bone on the gear shift, it didn't blow up until I was out of it
10. Stopped at a two way stop on a busy intersection and hit from behind, pushed in front of a gas tanker, car stopped but then suddenly was pushed forward by something, the car that hit me saw my car suddenly jump forward and thought I'd started it again, I hadn't.
11. Rescued a young prostitute from a lunatic with a set of kitchen knives, have a reallllly big scar on my abdomen but my insides didn't come out I felt someone holding them in.
12. My already low blood pressure bottomed out during a wrist surgery and I heard them calling me and giving the time of my death. I finally said something close to 2 minutes after that.
There are more,, but they are gruesome and not for public consumption. I know I have someone watching out for me, and it's the same one all the time.

Well, I believe the only near death experience ive had took place back in seventh grade. An old friend and I decided we would jump a fence and sneak over on some privately owned land and hit this fishing hole we had always wanted to fish. (bad idea) Well we were catching fish left and right when we heard a car coming down the road. We were ducking down hiding behind some cat tails watching the car, and who would've guessed it was the owner of the land. Well he must of had vision like a hawk because he spotted us and whipped his car in there sideways. Well now we were trapped in the middle of a big field with no where to go. After seeing the man drag a rifle out of the back seat is all it took to send me across that field in a hurry. My friend decides he's going to go grab his tackle box. Nope, not me. I was headed in a dead sprint towards the woods. After I heard the first crack of that gun I kicked it up to about 20 mph. I look back and now my friend has decided hes gonna run. Luckily we both made it out of there without any gun wounds. I lost a nice fishing pole, a tackle box, and a shoe that day. lol

WOW. I don't know wether to stay reeeaaally far away from you or make sure I am right next to you! You've got the best worst luck ever! If somebody out there is looking out for you, you might want to consider giving them a break every now and again! I think you need a new hobby.

Hmmmm. Reading some of these brought home more "fun" memories of near death experiences.

I was pregnant with my second child when my psychotic ex husband held a gun up to my stomach. I do NOT know why he didnt shoot. He was pressing awfully hard with that gun and all I was thinking was "dont kill my baby"...
Same man several years later. I had left him and had a restraining order, pregnant with my fourth child. He broke in, we were in a physical knock down, drag out (because I had NO DOUBTS he was there to murder at very least me and likely the kids) and I was going into labor.
The last thing I remember was a haze of blood in my eyes. I had fought all the harder because my little son had leaped onto his back, trying to SAVE ME. He was hurt as well. (broken collar bone)
Luckily the neighbors heard and called the police. I had the baby prematurely but he did live and will be 21 this year.
If the neighbors had not heard, I probably wouldnt be typing this right now.
