I expect this from my Silkie..not my RIR.. and yet two days in a row now, I go out and there she is.. my younger RIR..sitting in the nesting box and she screams at me when I enter.. gets all fluffy and chitters at me.. all aggressive. I move her out with my booted foot.. not getting near that beak with my hands.. and she'll not go back into the nesting box the rest of the day. I'll even find her roosting on the bar at night..

What gives? I didn't hink Reds went broody.. she hasn't laid in a week now.. this had better stop..

My RIRs and Sex-links used to go broody on me. They both hatched out a full set of chicks, but they don't make as good of mommas as the true broody breeds. They're not as protective, watchful, or moody
