Gross roaches scurried away into the crack where the lid attaches to the nest box.

Snakes, spiders and such I can handle, but for some reason these vermin give me a serious cases of the willies.

How can I dispatch these discusting vermin without posioning the girls.

Any ideas?

Thank you so much!

Well when we lived in the city we had problems and I got the combat roach paste and if you put it where the chickens cant get to it the bugs will find it and that should help...I would place it on the walls and ceilings where they cant reach it as its a paste and will stick on the surface. I dont think D.E. will take care of this, maybe sevin dust will not sure will have to check the label...Just a thought...

Won't your chickens eat the roaches?
Seems to me they would be a treat for them. If it moves my chickens will have it for a snack. I would empty the nest box so the hens can see the roaches move and you will not have a roach problem.

I'm sure they would if they could see them. But they arn't using the nest boxes yet, still teenagers, and the roaches hide in the back crack where the lid and the wall of the nest box comes together.

When I lift the lid I see them run behind where the lid attaches. And of course it's dark in there with the lid closed.....

By the way.......Ewwwweee that's an aweful pic of that disgusting creature!

That's just George...

I agree that that most of the cockroaches are awful. George just stays in his cage and hangs around.
He eats cricket food that I get at the petstore and granola as a treat.
