I get oyster shell from the source. That is, I walk along the shore and pick up 1/2 shells. Take them home and pound them into tiny bits with a mallet.
All of a sudden I'm having to pound more and more!
At first I thought it was because my chickens and ducks have started to lay again so need more calcium. Only fair, I thought, and it's not as if the oyster shell is costing me anything.

So yesterday I did a couple of shell's worth of tiny bits. As usual my2 Australorps were cheering me on and went right for a nibble or 2 as soon as I was done. But there was still quite a bit left. Later on I happened to look over and there were more birds helping themselves. 3 white ducks. Huh? 2 of those white ones are drakes!
Ducky see, duck do, I guess.
