I’m treating my Polish hen for wryneck. Again. She got it last year in April or so, and now I’ve been treating her for a week for it again. She got Vitamin E and vitamin B super complex mixed with feed and an egg tonight. Hopefully a couple more doses and she will be right as rain again.

Why is it coming back? I gave them chick feed. I just switched to non medicated. It’s a brand new bag. 🤷‍♀️ what am I doing wrong?

Pic of her looking a little lopsided…

How long was she on medicated feed? Long-term use of the medication in medicated feed can lead to thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency.
Her whole life (18 months). I forgot to think about what that medicine would do long term (oops). What is the best course of action to correct the deficiency?

If she improved with the vitamin therapy last time you should continue it until she gets better. Keep your adult flock on a non-medicated feed. Medicated feed should only be used as a preventative in young chicks (unvaccinated for coccidiosis) for up to 16 weeks.

Sounds great! Thanks so much.
