Zane Made REAL Progress (New Pics Pg 99)!RIP Lorelei...

I'm glad you're finding some happiness with the rest of your flock Cyn, and I'm sure glad you spent that time today with Lorelei. I bet she loved it as much as you did, I hope she can pass in an easy way. You both deserve that.
I'm glad to hear that Zane is making little improvements, I'll be checking back in for another update tomorrow.
After months of hardly finding time to be on BYC(I've hardly got any posts on this new site) Now I feel like I need to check each day to see how you guys are doing.

He manages to get around the pen he's in using his wings and thumping around on his hocks with his feet for balance. I need to put him in the hammock today in the sun, though. He likes that.
Lorelei is still with us. We turned over a dead log and she was scratching around underneath it. She gets special food every morning after broody Livvie and Zane and she's coming to expect it, but you can tell she's weak and unsteady on her feet. I'd be so happy if she pulled through this again like last summer, but I dare not hope too hard.

Thanks for the update Cyn. I was happy to read that there are at least SOME positives going on around your farm! It also sounds like Suede is feeling some of your pain and is trying to ease it a little. What a sweet boy!

It seems like Zane has a pretty good system worked out now. What a trooper!

I was also relieved to hear that Lorelei is still with you this morning. I'm glad she is eating well for you. Sending hugs your way!

The fact that Zane is finding a way to move himself around means that he hasn't given up yet!

I'm sorry to hear Lorelei is still having a rough time too!

Now, I'm faced with the question, "How long do I give him to recover before I know it isnt going to happen?". I dont want to give up too soon, but I dont want him to live like this the rest of his life, even if he could survive this way. It isn't fair or dignified for young virile rooster. We tried to make a sling with a towel, but didn't do so well. DH was carrying him around in it. He won't put any weight on his feet, wont use them at all. Its like he cant feel them, at least the right one. Of course, if a nerve is pinched/bruised, signals may not be getting through well.

I don't know what to tell you, but I know it takes a long time for an injured nerve to heal. I know what you mean tho...it's not fair to him to live like he is now forever.
