Zane Made REAL Progress (New Pics Pg 99)!RIP Lorelei...

This whole thing makes me so sad...
I really wish there was some kind of magic that I could brew up to help all of our sick birds and I'd go back and make the lost ones better....

I just wish I knew if Zane would be able to walk in the future if we keep doing what we're doing or if this is all it would ever be for him. He is the most gentle soul you can imagine, this boy. He is so much his father's son. I want his life to have dignity.

I know it's hard to see him this way but, as long as he still has the will let him have the chance. He's eating and stretching his legs and doesn't seem to be giving up so think positive. Hard to do with all you have going on there I'm sure but, hang tight!

I'm sorry to hear the updates with your girls Cyn, but it sounds like Zane is enjoying his therapy to some extent.
I'm hoping all of the interaction outside keeps him motivated.
I just don't know what to say about your girls, its just too sad to think that they are so ill.
:aww

I dont know, either, Kelly. DH went out to the coop because we have some 20 week olds who tend to want to roost on top of the nest boxes and he puts them on the roost every night after dark. He found Ruby on the floor in the shavings under the roost instead of on it. Ruby is the leader, a queen, and never would do that unless she was deathly ill. I'm so afraid we may not have her tomorrow. This is just awful. DH really loves these birds, and Ruby is his special pal lately.

I believe Zane is going to pull through all this and this is just a "development" of his personality. He will be the all time favorite of all your birds and everyone on BYC will feel like they have part ownership in it going through all this.

I almost feel like I should stop talking about the girls right now. They may or may not make it and sad as it will be to lose any one of them or all of them, I can't afford to treat three chickens at a vet, if I could even find one who knows what he's doing with poultry. If it appears that things are getting really bad and they can't recover, then it may come time to help things along and ease their misery.
For now, although Lorelei is very thin and has stopped laying, she is still eating and moving around every day almost like normal, at least to look at her. She does move very slowly, but she goes all over the place, scratching and eating and drinking with the rest of the girls. The other two are the ones in critical mode. And Zane may just have a long road back to standing on his own two feet. If he does heal up, I'll have a wonderful rooster for my flock and a great pal for myself, hopefully for years to come. He is the sweetest rooster I've ever had the pleasure to know; I wish you could all see this boy in person. He is amazing.
