This morning, he didn't want to eat his eggs at all. I hand fed him a few bites, but he refused to eat from the bowl. He was laying with the sun streaming in the door onto him and he when I turned my back, he maneuvered himself from one side of the pen to a place where the sun was hitting more, but he still isnt standing. I have to be gone all afternoon. Not sure what I'll find when I get home.

Ok, I know this is going to sound crazy but my 80 yr old grannie said they used

cruched red pepper flakes to give the chickens a boost when she was a girl. try that and see if it will help. This is heartbreaking. :aww i am not sure what it does but she said that is what her mom did. And it perked them up. Hope it will help.

not to make light of it but.............if I were sick and someone gave me crushed red pepper flakes...............

it would perk me up.
Lots of times these old remedies work?

if someone gave me crushed red pepper while i was sick i dont know what i'd do. I'd probably get up and go get some water. and i wouldnt be a happy camper.

but crushed pepper is a "rememdy" for worms so if they were wormy it could work to perk them up...?

LOL, I know everyone it grasping at straws to help my Zane and I really appreciate it. I know he doesn't have worms and I doubt the red pepper flakes would cure anything that's wrong with him now. He's backing off food and water, an ominous sign. I'm afraid he's trying to tell his mom and dad something we don't want to hear.
