I don't know a single person who keeps finches so I have to rely on books and internet ! I am ok with two males, actually it is easier that way because in the past I've given them dummy clutches and not hatched the eggs , and worried about the females health from laying so much and nothing will discourage them. I only agreed for another woman to hatch some babies for her to add to her flock ! But two males would be so much easier.I'm pretty confident I'm right. The last thing I mispaired was two Gouldian hens. lol Couldn't figure out why there were 15 eggs in the nest box and all clear. lol For being "easy" honestly, I find Zebras more infuriating than most breeds.
The forum used to be pretty active. As I'm not currently breeding, I don't spend time on there.I was unable to find them in Facebook. Do you have a link by chance ? I posted on the forum but it doesn't look very active , fingers crossed !
Thank you so much! I wonder if I will get a mix of answers lol ! I'll keep you posted ! Thank you again !!!The forum used to be pretty active. As I'm not currently breeding, I don't spend time on there.

I used to breed a lot of birds.I don't know a single person who keeps finches so I have to rely on books and internet ! You could get a DNA sex test on that one:I wondered too if she were a male, but she does not make the male song. Only the little meepeeps that females make where the male makes the big song! If she were a HE he would make the big song, too.
It should work. Just insane to pay more for the DNA test than you did for the bird. lolYou could get a DNA sex test on that one:

They just need a few feathers or drops of blood, and I think it works on any species of bird.
Ooppp that's a really good idea !You know this worked with my Owl finches. You might pop the white one into a cage by itself and take it for a little ride in the car. Or put it in another room for a few hours. Usually, a single male will start to sing, especially if you can find audio from their species to play to get them to sing or call out.
Well she is still only peeping although rather loudly and she's stressed. I removed the male and he freaked out trying to get back into the cage and his nest. He's in a hospital cage in the bathroom woth the fan running. I played male and female songs and she only peeps. But I do see faint black patches on her cheeks maybe. Or I'm imagining it.You know this worked with my Owl finches. You might pop the white one into a cage by itself and take it for a little ride in the car. Or put it in another room for a few hours.
