I've got two very different eggs stuck mid zip and could use some advice.
Egg#1 was in good shape at set and has been zipping for about 24 hours and made very little progress - 25-30%? Worse - pipped in the right spot but then headed south and getting worse.

Egg #2 i was not expecting to hatch. Shipped egg with completely detached air cell that never reattached. A saddle air cell that looks like the crooked mile. Barely got started and has made no progress in about 16 hours

Both are breathing but not cheeping. I would rather not assist since I would be in it for the long haul. Not even sure how to assist #1 since she is so far from the air cell now. Should I be doing something or wait it out?

I'm trying to upload photos...

Are they both actually zipping the shells? Chicks start by making a tiny hole, rest for ages, then enlarge the hole and start working around the shell to push off the end. Once they get to the zipping stage of breaking further than the enlarged hole they are virtually hatched, should have absorbed all yolk and veins should be shrunk down.

Most common cause of problems here is insufficient humidity. What is your humidity level? I would absolutely assist at this point if they seem to be stuck. It is not normal for them to take more than a couple of hours once they start zipping.

Did you say the chick has been like that for 24 hours? If so you should be able to just peel off the air cell end of the egg and it should come right out by itself. There is a danger of it dying of exhaustion if it is stuck.

sorry for sloppy pic post. Posting from my tablet or phone never seems to go right.

Humidity was at 60-65% for the first round of hatches. I bumped it to 70% this morning when it appeared these two were struggling.

Thanks everyone. Are there any special tips i need to take with #1 since it's zipping mid egg or would the veins have receded by now?
