I might possibly be getting a zonkey! I'm not sure if I will get her yet but she is gentle and halter broke but has some trouble getting caught in the pasture. I really hope this works out, I have been reading up on them and think I will be able to handle it. I have done alot of natural horsemanship type training with horses and I believe a zonkey shouldn't be to much different. Anyone have a zonkey or experiences with them? Pictures? Thanks! I am really wondering about their hoof care, can you trim them less often than a horses?

Same care as a donkey
Acts like a donkey too.

Sorry, no pictures, lost all our pictures in a house fire several years ago. We called them ze-donks back then if we are talking about the same critter

I am not good with donkeys, so I would be scared to try a zonkey. Donkeys are so differant than my horses, but boy are they cute. I would think that the zonkey would have great feet and require less trim. Anyway looking forward to pics from you and good luck.

Zonkeys require the same hoof care as donkeys do. My donkey and mule get their hooves trimmed and rasped every time the horses get theirs done.

Good luck with your zonkey! I was nearly bitten by one at a drive-through animal park. He wanted food, and I didn't have any. It wasn't my fault the camel had previously stolen my bag of kibble. I threw a cup of ice at him to get him off my steering wheel.

Donkeys are WAY different than horses! I have training experience with horses as well and agreed to take in a problem donkey for a friend to help thinking, how much different can it be? I quickly learned WAY different. Totally different thought process, etc.

Your horse training background will certainly help but I would definitely encourage you to do some google look up on training for donkeys and mules to help supplement.

Good luck!
