Raising chickens has been a labor of love. We bought a house on land that had a chicken coop on it. We bought baby chicks, rebuilt the coop (in that order) learned more and more and more about chickens and now have 5 in the coop and 7 in the brooder! Chicken math is real and these babies are just pure joy.
new colored bird since i added a blue drake. did any of your birds get a dark head?

I just let them do their thing and let the parents raise them. I did so in the last with a blue head pair and a silver head pair that hatched and raised their own young. Best to just let them do their thing

My birds lay 100 eggs each in february march and april. We were eating a bunch, then I started selling them. We incubate a lot of them too and sell the live birds. I a waste to let so many eggs die. We got 46 live birds out of an incubator 2 years ago and sold them all. I have 5 hens now that's 500 eggs this spring.

I'm going to start shipping eggs in February next year to people in the south. Snow on the ground here perfect down there.
