Not sure what is up with my hen :/ I let my chickens out to free range this morning and I saw her jump out of a nesting box after everyone was gone and walk outside. When I came back after putting the chicks in their outdoor run, I noticed her laying down and making gurgling noises. When I...
Well, I originally thought Dave was a boy, since she had that ring around her neck. I have been suspecting for a couple of months the opposite, and I was right. =]
So awhile ago we let our ducks out into the pond. They are basically free range. They just stay there. Occasionally they will...
Hmmph. I guess its kind of karma since we used to get 3 eggs a day from 3 chickens, while my Aunt got maybe a dozen a day from 35, and we kind if bragged about it. Now they are not laying at all.
So, we have them in with 2 ducks and a goose, which may be the problem. But they have been in...
Hi! I'm Akpahsj, so just call me Julia, because that's my name. I don't have any chickens, but I do have ducks. I am hoping to get chickens maybe in fall so we can have some nice fresh eggs for breakfast!
Oct. 2011- We just got three chickens, and so far we have 6 eggs! saving them for sunday...
Well we got a Welsh drake and a Buff hen, and they had a pretty little drakeling.
I was wondering if you guys have any WelshxBuffs, and if you could post the pictures?
Id just like to see what my 4 month old might turn out to look like.
I'll post pics later, but I'm on my tiny laptop.
Well seven actually. One was rotten, and the drake stepped on the rest. It was so sad! We dug the eggs out of the nest and there were fully developed ducklings in them ready to hatch, but the drake had stepped on them so they were all dead.
So one day we were out horse-back riding when something popped out of the bush. It was a canada goose, and it started running, but it couldn't fly. the dogs attacked it, we thought it was dead. But we soon found out it wasn't. I rode to my Granny's house and my brother jumped on the quad, and we...
Oh my Hen is a Buff, and My drake is a Welsh Harlequin. I actually don't know how old they are, but she laid eggs in June, and they hatched in early July. So the young drake is actually their kid.
Sad story actually.
We didn't know you were supposed to separate the pair when the hen was setting...
So I went outside with my sister and I was watching my ducks. We have 3 ducks, 3 chickens, and 1 goose all together.
So 2 ducks our drakes, 1 is a hen, but the younger drake is too young to breed yet.
So my hen was acting really weird, puffing up her feathers, and running around the pen. She...
Well we often have -30 C out here. Alberta can have some crazy winters!
And my ducks are always together, and were just waiting for signs of her laying eggs so we can separate them.
Well, my Drake went thorugh his molt and got his green head and all his feathers back at the beginning of september, and what I understood from being online was that they could also have ducklings in the winter.
Is this true? Because we have expecting eggs, but so far none.
And are ducks...
