    American serama thread!

Have you examined it to rule out trauma or a tumor? He's a bit old to develop Marek's symptoms, but it's not unheard of. If he's in with others his own age, look out for lameness in them, too. Not much you can do about it at this point, if that's what it is.

    question on serama

Many Seramas are not selected for quality. They're cute little pets with fancy coloring. If you want birds that look like the breed standard drawings, you need eggs from birds that match the standard. Judging by what is on Ebay right now, yours are going to have long backs and skinny tails. You...

I don't see the turner mechanism. Do those three trays tilt? I've been meaning to buy myself a cabinet as a graduation present from paramedic school. A year and a half ago. I live in Mansfield

    Showing Seramas

You are correct; birds should not be entered as AOV. Serama exhibitors were once told to enter them as AOV because many bird's plumage were not easily described. It was thought that they would be grouped together, and the judge would ignore variety and only evaluate type. The scheme was...

    Showing Seramas

Although white is the only ABA/APA recognized variety of Serama, one can show any variety. The complication with this breed, though, is that very few enthusiasts are separating varieties when they mate their birds. The result is a flock full of Seramas that don't fit any written description. For...

    Showing Seramas

I don't know of any Serama clubs that encourage breeding for specific varieties. Most actually discourage it. They will tell you that birds of proper varieties are of lower quality, or that ABA breeding is beyond the capabilities of most breeders. It is possible to get the Serama to breed true...

    American serama thread!

If all of your birds have white spots on their feathers, all of their offspring will have white spots. What you are seeing is called mottling. It's a recessive trait, abbreviated "mo". All your birds are mo/mo, and they will all pass it to their offspring. If a pair is each heterozygous for...

I live on the western edge of Ohio, right in the middle. I hatched about 20 chicks this winter before the hens stopped laying, so I should have some to chooose from come spring.

Has anyone used Feline Focus 3 Drops from TSC?

I bought a few and tried one. The rest will expire in my fridge. I didn't read the instructions first, or I wouldn't have bought them in the first place. I don't know of any systemic medications that are delivered as eye drops. Intranasal meds are always delivered atomized, not as drops. I...

    Advice on soap making gift

A stick (immersion) blender saves so much time! They're around ten bucks in the kitchen section. You could get her some scents or colors that she might like. Or for a personal touch, design her a label for her soaps and put it on fancy paper or stickers. Maybe you can find her some charities...

Sharon Middleton and Mandy Malin are near you. I saw Sharon at the ON last year, so she may still have Seramas. I believe Edgar has a pair of whites for sale. I have a white cock I'd like to move out. Beverly Fledderjohn is a couple hours north of you, and she usually has something. Matt...
