And so now she's prolapsed too? Sheesh... (update:still not better!)

Quote: If you mean this poor chicken has been a serious pain in the ... well, yeah, but I feel bad about it. I only fill the sink deep enough to soak her tush. But inevitably she flaps and splashes at first. Not enough to soak her all over, but her bottom half does get soaked to the skin...

And so now she's prolapsed too? Sheesh... (update:still not better!)

Ok, so it's been a week and no real improvement. The scabs came off, but it won't stay in. Now the sneezing has gotten worse. I think from being bathed twice a day even tho I keep her wrapped up in the towel and snuggled until she's dry. I tried the prep H for the first 3 days, and honey since...

And so now she's prolapsed too? Sheesh... (update:still not better!)

Ok, so we've had these two frizzle-cochins for about 2 and a half months and they have been a lesson in chicken issues from day one. First, we kept them isolated in a kennel in the house apart from the younger ones who were still in the brooder patiently waiting for me to finish the coop. Then I...

Adams flea and tick spray for mites- should I toss the eggs?

Not sure if this will help at all, but as far as flea and tick sprays go, I would think Adams is the safest. First time i bought it, I drenched both cats and the dog with it, only to find one cat foaming at the mouth about an hour later. I rushed him to the vet and they put us in the room...

    Hen with a never-ending cold?

We're feeding her Layer crumbles...I guess a little dusty, but not much. A little bit of oyster shells and just a 1/4 cup of scratch every other day. Pine shavings for bedding. The house isn't dusty. I do have cats and they shed on everything...maybe she's allergic to cats? lol Sounds like a...

    Hen with a never-ending cold?

I've got 2 one year old frizzle-cochins that I've had for about a month and a half now. When i got them, I didn't notice any health issues. One had a bald butt, but they had been penned in with a roo so we assumed it was from him. I had just finished my coop and moved my 3 month old girls out...

    just gotta say.....

I tell everyone about this site! (Even tho no one else I know has chickens lol)I've wanted chickens for a long time and if it weren't for this site, I wouldn't have gotten them. I come here every day and read up. It's like having my own personal chicken expert on hand (or thousands of chicken...

    what to name

What a neat idea! Let me know how the scrunchies hold up. We purposely got all different breeds so we could tell them apart, but we just had to rehome our rooster and I brought home two frizzle hens instead that look exactly alike. I was wondering what we were going to do to tell them apart...

Free SLW roo in Deltona Fl

We'd love to keep him, but we just can't. He's a sweetheart and the pictures just don't do him justice. He came from MPC. His hatch date was Oct. 5th and he has his Marek's vaccine. We would just really hate to see him go to a soup pot! I'm willing to meet you halfway if the drive is long.

    New home for SLW roo???

Quote: This guy was hatched Oct 5th so that makes him 7 weeks tomorrow. We got them from MPC. We have a barred rock and the pattern is a lot different. Quote: Thanks for clearing that up. I was beginning to worry that I had no idea of what I've got! Thanks to everyone for all of the...

    New home for SLW roo???

This is probably the wrong place to post this, but I'm not trying to sell him, so I apologize upfront. One of our six little outlaw chicks has decided she is indeed a he and so as not to blow the cover of the other five, we need to find him a new home. He's a beauty and a sweetheart so we'd hate...

    Opinions Please!

Quote: My BF keeps telling me the same thing! He says "They're CHICKENS!" as if I didn't know As for the tile, I think it would work if it wasn't slippery when it was wet? I'm not sure. I'm still building my first coop too and I put down an old rubber pond liner so that I could hose it all...
