From what ive read, so called chicken wire isn't any good at keeping out predators. I noticed my electric wire was messed up the other day. So I think something got zapped! Chickens are ok. Electric fence chargers are a good idea.
I put a very small hole with a nail, pushed just enough to puncture the container. My chicks took like five minutes to learn, I just kept tapping the nipple. Once one gets the idea, the rest follow along.
Nice try but the link didn't have any info. I was asking the nice lady who started the post. So far every time ive looked the answers all seem to be about going hunting. There seems to be no mention of Texas A&M quail under game birds.
Lately Ive been sprouting mung beans for them. Next I'm trying cat grass. Ill have to keep the pumpkin idea in mind. Our local food bank gives away lots of not so perfect veggies out the back door just for critters. Potatoes and squash are good also.
Ive had chickens for about two years. I kept reading about chickens slowing down in the winter. Mine? Lay ed right through the winter, even through below zero weather.
Now its warm out, around 80 degrees and almost no eggs? whats up? I tried varying their diet and increasing protein. Plenty...
Well I disagree with you, grains should only be a small part of they're diet. After reading the ingredients listed most bagged chicken food seems like crap to me. I did just get a bag of layer feed to throw in with the veggies. I do wish I had access to more insects for mine.
Also if you read...
Well they do it at trader Joes and off brand health food stores. It says fertilized right on the box.
If they are white eggs I would imagine them being Leg Horns. If brown, maybe some kinda ISA brown.
I have two bantys that were beat up by another. They are missing feathers right before their tail feathers. It doesn't seem to bother them, and I figured the feathers would grow back?
Well so far nothing, its been a few months. So is it permanent? anything that would help them? They appear...
Funny,i never see any wet spots under my waterer.Than again its so dry here that water drys up fast here. I broke down and put two nipples under a two gallon pail. Its working fine. This was part of my summer prep for the heat. I also opened up the end of the green house and added a wire fence to...
Ive only had one problem,a rooster who figured out that if he held it up the water nipple lever water would just continue to come out! The rooster is gone so i have no problems now.
Yes its the feed. Greens make for tasty more healthy eggs. You can really see the difference in the color of the yolks.
A friend who has chickens and i find our chickens dont even want chicken feed from a bag.
I give them a little but its greens for my chickens. They let you know about it...
We have a bald eagle about three hundred yards away. And a Osprey? that is near the eagle by the lake.
Racoons and skunks also.

I read a post where a guy had his birds outside. He came home and all the cornish were dead because it was hot out and they were to lazy to move to a water source that all the other chickens used. Some died like ten foot away from the water.
For meat birds i like dual purpose birds. Those red...
