Thank you all for your kind responses and the picture chart. It makes me wish I could have checked everything. At least I know it wasn’t a contagious virus...that would be terribly hard to lose all of our hens. Again, thank you for taking the time to respond, I’m very grateful.
The fluid was clear and I saw the liver but did not get a picture...( I have to admit I have a weak stomach and couldn’t eat my dinner after this) There weren’t any abnormal growths that I could see on the liver and the color was reddish blue with some yellow....for some reason my thought upon...
Hello all. I wanted to post a couple graphic necropsy pictures of my 3 yr old Leghorn hen that we lost today. She has not been doing well for the last month, off and on. The last week she started to go downhill even worse, not able to stand or walk. We kept food and water near her and she kept a...
Yep, I see now DE is worthless! We did use permethrin on them last night. Do you know how many treatments it may take? I also checked for bumblefoot and saw nothing but that's why I soaked his feet and legs in Epsom salts, to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Both upper legs, where the...

RIR are not red from the start. They are actually quite light, creamy yellow with perhaps a very light tan brown on wing tips. Never the less, this is not a RIR.

It looks as if you and I are in the same boat....Rooster....love him anyways....and if that's a RIR, they are dual purpose birds.....just something to think about.
Thank you, that's what I thought, plus those little tail feathers are not looking like a hen.....We will keep him as long as he doesn't cause major stress or damage to the hens.....
I was told at Tractor Supply that this was for sure a Hen. The older this chicken gets the more I'm in doubt. I let them out to free range yesterday while we were building on a large run..all the dirt is from digging around to bury the wire. This is a 5 week old Rhode Island Red. What do you...
