Thanks for the replies!
the hens were moved away from the flock once they had been broody a couple days....cuz a couple of my hens are just plain mean.
I guess I'll try fewer eggs next time I have a broody (probably again this summer )....I just figured if the hen could cover all the eggs, than...
Make sure you don't get a puppy just cuz it's cute...lol...we brought home an ADORABLE chow cross puppy once. Cutest thing ever . But I couldn't train him. At all. Very stubborn. Smart, but stubborn .
I'd go for a shelter pup first, if you can (or a responsible dog breeder).
Preforming a...
A couple of our hens went broody about 3wks ago, starting out with 15-16eggs. We lost 6-7 eggs before the day 18 mark. Most exploded, one or two were crushed . During the past couple days, 4 chicks hatched:). There were a remaining 5eggs this morning, and I was thinking about keeping them...
this is what I call a ''Bullwhip'' dog (bulldog breed x whippet)
A couple more of the dogz later on
(excuse the battered looking fence...it was a temporary run till our yard was secure)
thanks! he knows he's pretty, lol. we're almost sure he's a mix of some sort, the dude weighs ~80lbs, is fairly tall, and has ticking in his white socks, which we don't think pure pits do? i'm not an expert on the breed, but i thought i'd read someplace that you get ticking with pit/mastiff...
the Toadling @11wks or so. (no longer with us)
and Milo @3-4months old, my fav. dog ever...no longer mine, however.
*rolls eyes* ''Just give me the tennis ball, human.''
I bought 3 (1 ram lamb, 2 ewes) katadhin (sp?) lambs off a lady for $45 @4months old. But she sold according to the local auction house's price. I see lambs going from $45 (usually bottle lambs) to $125. Depends on breed, age, lines, etc.
I think it'd be best to have at least 1/2 an acre, as...
I asked a question on here a while back about temporary electric fence.
Finally, I've got enough money of my own to buy a roll, energizer&battery.
ANYHOW, I am seriously considering buying some this month before the crazy spring pasture growth....but a few things popped up that concerned me:

I really want to do a colony arrangement...but I have no place to do it.
@Stark
rabbits, as long as they are healthy, can have litter after litter, after litter---basically, I think a doe COULD kindle every month, but that's definitely not a good idea. Maybe 5 litters a year tops on good food.
we neutered our pups at 6-7months old. For an average pet home, I think this is best.
It also depends on the size/breed. A smaller dog can/should be neutered sooner than a large breed. I've heard for especially large breeds (danes, st. bernards, etc) , it is best to wait till they're 10-15months...
when we first had goats, they were kept at our property out in the country. I would NOT reccomend keeping them somewhere other than your own place, unless it's actually ''boarding''(on someone's property who can check on them everyday) or at a trusted friend's place. You cannot observe them...
I have some experience in dog training....not much interest in training her though---she started the fight that sent My dog to the shelter. Yeah, I have some resentment towards her. Doesn't help.
ordinarily she wouldn't get out...she's inside 75% of the day, only out on-leash. Can't pen her up...
Late yesterday night, my lab mix got out, in hopes to show us (for the 5th time) just how ugly she can be.
I have lost chickens and rabbits to this dog, and she just LOVES killing little animals and having a go at large ones.
So, she got out, and my dad & brother were trying to catch her...
