Rhode Island Reds. I love them and always have a few in my flock. They are wonderful layers.

Probably a raccoon. I've had them just eat the heads off several hens and kill the rest.

They will start setting when they have enough eggs. Its differant for each hen but they should start setting when they get 6-7 eggs in the nest. My last broody hen started setting on 4 eggs. They may not set since their young. I think the eggs will stay good for about 2 weeks before they go bad.

Sounds like a rooster to me.

You have a great looking rooster. I have no idea what he might be, probably a mutt.

I have 21 birds that eat a 50lb bag of laying mash every 2 weeks. They eat a little more during the winter.

I also get it. It has alot of infomation in it. Its a great magazine.

I sell my eggs for $1.50/doz. I don't break even on the feed but thats all people will pay around here.
