I've been keeping peafowl 5 or 6 years i guess it is now. They free range all over the community and neighbors don't mind. I only have 9 birds and the homesites here are 3 to 6 acres so, it's not so crowded. Most years, just before freezing weather i trap them all into my barn which has an...
This is my 6 month old bird. It has fanned a few times, which makes me lean towards male. It don't have even a hint of a spur, but may be too young for that. I can't be sure it is larger than my hen. But I lean towards it's legs maybe being a bit longer and a bit thicker than my hen.

I have 6 peafowl. 3 of them like to fly up on the house and from there up in an oak tree to roost and back to the house in the morning. There are plenty of trees down by the barn, but they favor the house.
Any experience with peacocks damaging shingles? Maybe yes, maybe no? Your thoughts?
I have two 3-yr old hens, which have began laying. In the same pen i have 4 males that are 1 year old. I haven't witnessed any breeding and i can tell the hens are dominant at the food dish. Most say the males are too young. Might be right. I will set the eggs and find out.

A few weeks ago i posted pics of my 4 peafowl - first ones I've ever had. The consensus was they were all 4 males. My pictures weren't very good, and these pics aren't much better. These birds are one week shy of 5 months old. 3 of them now have very prominent barred feathers on their backs and...
I was just curious as to how long it would take them to reach full size in general (not talking male tail size). No use to go to all that trouble to weigh them. Thank you kindly for your comment.
I have 4 males that will soon be 5 months old. They are my first peafowl - going to be good sized...
Years ago, all scratch grain mixes contained mostly corn with a little milo for color and sometimes a little wheat. When corn prices got high, scratch mixes became mostly milo, which i mostly keep pigeons and they prefer more milo in the mix, so that's fine by me.
I have my first batch of...
