Bob, all the talk about production reds here was about being nice and informative at the same time and answering a harmless question that could be coming from a child for all we know. As the 'thread starter' and 'teacher', let me know if this is against the rules here too. Is this a thread about...
Well there are at least two kinds of RIR. There are 'production reds' that hatcheries and feed stores sell and Heritage Rhode Island Reds. I have had production reds and enjoyed them very much. They are really good layers and I never had a problem with health or mean roosters like some people...
Bob, if we were to both get RIR from Don Nelson and we both started a separate line breeding program (say three times in and once out)...we would end up with two lines from the strain of Don Nelson, but if I never line bred my stock then I wouldn't have a line. I believe that is correct?
I am sorry you feel that way. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however I'm not sure how you could get 'attack' out of anything I said. I like Bob, he is one of the few people I have exchanged PM's with on this forum. It may be unintentional, but man, it's hard to keep up with the false...
Thanks Jeff. I started trying to look it up and decided I was too tired, lol. Thanks for the information!
ETA - wait, I thought the + signs meant it was lacking?? Sorry, I'm a novice at genetics

Thanks ALL for the replies. So Jeff, the partridge rock does carry mahogany? Take a look at this and tell me what you think.
"I don not have any partridge rock but have some silver penciled, so I may very well be wrong on whether they carry Mahogany, but to my recollection they are more brown...
Bob that hen you have as your avatar now (and the Black and white Rooster in your pics too)...I see the brick and the flat topline, surrounded by what looks like sweeping curves to me...I like that look
Bob, since I am extremely new to SOP (still don't have a copy) maybe my question could be a good teaching point. I get the brick shape and flat top line. However, I've noticed in more of the old photos from years ago a little rise in the tail area and a little more 'curve' extending down the...
I really don't get it when people get upset over a crowing rooster and yet there's nothing to do about neighbors who get drunk, loud, curse and blast music in the yard until after 10pm Every weekend we have to stay inside with the TV on to drown them out. A lot of folks just see the speck in...
