I have obtained some newly hatched chicks, plus some that are not yet hatched. I wont be able to get them, in an incubator for about 5 hours. What are their chances if i get them in a warm box & get heat on them?

So about a week ago, my girls were out free ranging the back yard area. All of a sudden, the roo went crazy, honking & cackling & carrying on & the girls scattered. I ran out to see what was going on & when all were calmed down, I realized one was missing,Meredith, one of our black sex link...
Yesterday my husbands pup killed our broody hen, Henrietta. She was a White Plymouth rock. Poor thing. Pup is gone away now & there will be no other dogs. Period. Im sick about this. My 13yo daugter was the one misfortunate enough to find her. She called me at work in hysterics & I had to leave...
So we have 2 little 11 week old Ameracauna babies. They are in a seperate pen now with the 4.5 month old Ameracauna pullet as well. They are seperated at this point only by the pen. the other hens free range during the dayall around them.
They have been perfectly fine til the last day or 2. I...
I have a flock of 14 girls & a few young roos that free range most of the day. (2 of those roos soon to be gone). So far, not a single issue. Id like to give the bantam roo that I have a few ladies more his own size. I'M assuming the larger roo will attempt to mate them too?
None of them are...
I got three Black Amerecauna pullets today. They are beautiful!
Here's two of them. The third is hiding under the bigger one. Lol
Silly babies.
The older is about four months and the two littles are 8 weeks old. [/IMG]
Do most birds have a change of attitude once they start laying? I kind of remember my older girls being more flighty, not so friendly, but now they all squat & wait to be held, or petted. They enjoy the attention. The younger group, UGH, its a pain to chase them down to grab them for anything...
this morning & got one of my girls. At least I'm pretty sure it was the owl. They were already out in the yard for the morning. We have had ZERO predator issues & I guess I got too comfortable. It got one of my young 12 week old BSL babies. IM sad..:( Ive hand raised them.
We have a new little bantam rooster we will soon be integrating with our main flock. My question is this....will he actually have any success in trying to mate the full size birds? I plan to get him a few bantam hens of his own but til then, I'm sure he'll have all his roosterly urges. lol
We put all our birds together today & didn't have a single issue. Couldn't have went more smoothly. Previously , our 6 hens & 1 roo (11 months)were penned separately from our 12- 12 week old chicks(10 pullets, 2 young roos). We had let a few of the older girls in to the yard where the younger...
