hi all.
i'm after some pictures, or a chat with anyone who has ever bred blue into lavender. i mean to the true recessive lavender and not silver, being two doses of blue.
i'd love to see what a light lavender(blue and lavender cross) and a silver lavender look like for comparisons of what...
the white head gene is dominant, really hard to get rid off, they'll get white heads even if they only have one dose of it. 2 doses of white head into no white head = all white heads(1 dose). 1 dose of white head into non white head = 50% white head 50% non white head. its a pain in the butt to...
run a search for pics of them. they are 2 different patterns. the ripples you can see a page or so back. barred muscovy have yellow duckling down with the only colour being a stripe on the tail, legs and bill. they first lot of feathers is the most striking, they are barred all over the body...
i think it was a good idea to put the brick in front. sometimes the mothers are ordinary/clumsy/just plain bad broodies. if she really wants the egg out she'll pick it up, atleast with the brick in front you've covered any accidental roll outs
i hate when this happens, it usually spells trouble.
i try to persuade them by spiltting the eggs as you have done. doesnt work often. sometimes theyll move the eggs back in! sometimes one will go broody and the other will continue laying the eggs in the same nest under the broody mum until...
i wait till i can see an indentation in the shell, then i help them a bit by opening only that little cracked part. i only do this as i have a cheapo incubator and worry i have had enough moisture in there. you have to be very careful though, if you remove too much shell too soon they bleed and...
we have bronzes here but its most likely the sepia gene. one of my experiments. sepia is rare in the US i believe but, i found a lady on a muscovy facebook group that has heaps of them! i think she was from Missouri. she had a pic of a beautiful bird that i suspect was sepia, rippled and mixed...
Hi Bemba, i like your experiment, your as bad as me! i have half a dozen colour/genetic experiments going on.
thats a lovely coloured bronze up the top. i have one little correction though, we dont have the ripple gene in Aus, must have been barred mum.
hi, been a bit busy of late! yes i've hatched out far too many birds this past season, the feed bill is killing me been a mixed season, had to deal with lots of feather pulling unfortuantely, the little buggers can be harsh to each other.
