I was definitely secretly considering it 😄 They are very playful and sweet. They did a great job following me back to the* house tonight 😭❤️ haha. I think the chickens will appreciate the alone time if I bring them in now and again. 😀
They sleep in the empty clawfoot tub on a doubled up towel with a bin for splashing and kibbles. Looking forward to getting them out in their duck house.
Luckily, I don't see any signs of feathers plucked all the way from the skin. They stay in the run for the better part of the day, 26'x15' minus the chicken coop. We have racoons and bears that are very active, even in the day right now. The bears have been spotted behind my house three times...
They spend all day out in the coop, then come in at night. They swim in the tub in the morning and before bed, while I build their pond and duck house this weekend.
They eat purina duck pellets with added nutritional yeast and some rooster booster sprinkled in. Frozen peas, frozen corn...

I know this is an old thread but thank you guys so much @Magnolia Ducks @Isaac 0 , I have been similarly worried about my pekins (new duck mom) ❤️ I'm going to sleep better tonight!
Well Teenie here is definitely not a Rhode Island Red. I noticed her little crest coming in and I'm guessing Cream Legbar? Maybe someone with a more seasoned eye could take a shot?
You are absolutely right, I get very attached to my animals. Thank you for sharing this!! I feel much better about my plans for a large coop and run, for a minute I felt like I was being "extra". Not to mention rain is a big concern here too! I didn't even think of them possibly avoiding the...
Hi Danny! I just read in the coop forum that some folks are making their own automatic doors! Like others have mentioned, I'm sure you can get a lot of advice over there. Welcome!! 🤗
Welcome!! I think you are in good company, chicken keepers as a whole seem to be very innovative! I haven't had a winter with my chickens yet, so I'll leave it to the experts... but I'm lurkin' 👀 haha!
