    MIne got leftover gristle and fat scraps from the beef barbecue. I've been feeling that they need more protein - they went CRAZY for this stuff. The dog was jealous. :) DOn't worry I never feed the chickens next to the dog or vice versa. That could get ugly.

    I put mine on the bottoms of 5-gal buckets hung various places; no PVC pipes or pressure. Until the chickens figured it out there was a lot of peck -peck-peck - drop hitting the floor. BUt now that they figured it out, the drop goes mostly in the beak. I still have founts out too, the chickens...

    you know you're a chicken person when.....

    Every time we get a movie from netflix and there happens to be chickens, or we're driving along somewhere and I spot some, I can't help it, I yell "chickENNNNNNNNNNNNNNS BOCKBOCKBOCK!!!" I live and drive around with other special people so its entirely understood and OK. ;)

    My six week-old chicks went bonkers this afternoon for corn-on-the-cob, the soft kind sold in stores for humans to boil up and eat. I just stripped the leaves and silk off and let them have at it. Peckathon!!!! Lots of fun and entertainment for them as they peck at the cob for a long time...
