No problem! I have lots to show when I can. Leah's mom-I will post pictures for sure.
My husband automated our chicken coop door, which really has NO rival. I absolutely love it!!!!!!!!! Part of that was building a sort of portico to protect the door from the elements-the girls love that. He...
Hello,
Wow, I haven't thought of this thread in awhile, nice to see so many awesome ideas.
My Coop has changed a lot since I wrote that including many more buildings. The one thing that has not changed is the rope roof. It is not only still standing just fine and surviving all the crazy...
I usually let my girls out when I'm out in the garden or front yard doing work. I figure nothing will happen while I'm right there. So this past weekend the girls are out in the backyard and I'm in the front watering (New England...lots of watering lately, lol). I see the dreaded shadow on the...
You sure are nice chicken owners!
Once it hits dusk all chickens (pretty much) go into a bit of a stupor. Comes in handy sometimes. If socializing is your goal then I would go buy some live meal worms. You will not only laugh a lot but quickly find out he who holds the meal worm holds their...
Hi,
Sorry to hear of your hen's trouble. My silkie is about one year old. It worked itself out somehow. She returned to the flock & I never did have another problem with her. I think since they free range, she ate something she shouldn't have.
About your hen. How old is she? If she is of...
Hello,
Thanks to this website I thought I had diagnosed my hen's issue but now I'm not so sure.
Yesterday I noticed her butt looked "dirty' took a closer look and noticed the feathers near (just below actually) her vent looked muddy. Came here and saw it could be vent gleet. So I did the...
When I first got my baby chicks my hubby got into a horrible accident and needed to be hospitalized. I had my inlaws check on them once a night. Somehow they all made it. If you can, definately have a friend check on them. The food and water almost always get tipped over.
Well thank you to all who responded!!!!
They are out in the run and I'm not sure about them but Momma is super happy! She took a dust bath almost right off. Taking time to teach her babies all sorts of stuff. They spent a long time on a dead leaf, not sure what the lesson was there, lol. Lots...
go outside? They were hatched with my silkie and the nursery is seperate from the rest of the flock and they can not get out. I am giving them medicated feed and they will be with
their momma. They were born on Thursday. They keep, well, actually it's momma who keeps knocking over the food and...
I have 3 brand new baby chicks born on Thursday! They are a silkie mix, the mom in the pic sat on 5 fert eggs. I gave a silkie rooster to a friend and she in turn gave me some fert eggs from him and her hens! I'm a momma again :) Check out the babies!
Lucy, my silkie hen in the vid did a...
Everyone has their own way. I suggest you try some methods mentioned here and on the web. For me, I can easily peel fresh eggs if I steam them. About 20 mins or so, time that from full steam not when you set it on the stove. I always set them in cold water after, but i'm not sure if that...
I love your girls and you for taking them in and loving them:) We need a ton more of chicken people like you! I would love any of my girls no matter what. Some people just keep seeking perfection. Big ol waste of time.
I'm no good at guessing but I just had to tell you how adorable they are! And to just let go and half mass his eyes for some lovin...uh, to die for, lol.
Beautiful Rooster you have there!
I have to give my roosters away due to where I live. I hope you get to keep him! Not all roosters are incredibly loud. Maybe it'll work out.
Please keep us posted. I'm curious what this bird is too but also curious about what happens to it! Are you going to keep it? Your friend? Did you catch it yet?
