Hi!
We’re thinking about moving to Wyoming but would be taking our chickens with us. I’m having trouble finding updated information on the ordinances for backyard chickens in Wyoming. I found that they’re allowed in Cheyenne but other than that I haven’t seen much. Does anyone know?
I have several Marans and olive eggers cockerels that I can't keep. I have black and grey ones, and they all have feathered feet. I am in Oregon but I am willing to drive a bit to find them a new home.
I have 11 Copper Marans and Olive Eggers. I am suspicious that several of them are boys, but I am really hoping I'm wrong on a few of them. They are just over 4 weeks old, and I know it may be a bit early to tell but at least one has started crowing already.

I have 11 chicks I hatched about a month ago, but at least one of them started crowing last week. I have marans and olive eggers, and I suspect about 5 are roosters. However, I was surprised at how early the crowing started and I wanted to know if that’s typical of marans? If they mature faster...
I hatched Marans and olive Eggers about a week ago, but I can’t tell who is which breed. They all look similar to me, black and gray/silverish and all but one has feathered feet. I do have pictures of a few of them that I’ve attached. Is there a way to distinguish the two breeds?
My last egg just hatched, and it seems to be having trouble getting up and walking. It’s let doesn’t look like it’s in a natural position. The toes are also a bit unnatural looking.
I just put 11 eggs into lockdown, Marans and olive Eggers. The aircells on the Marans look strange to me, and they’re so dark I can’t even tell if they’re developed or not. Thoughts?
Also, for lockdown I took the turner out, and I’m working on getting humidy up to 75%. Is that too high/low...
I think my air cells might be too small for where I’m at in the incubation period. Currently all of my eggs are on day 14. Is this too small? If it is, how do I change my humidity? Humidity has been between 30-45 percent for the most part.
Hi! I recently got some fertile eggs, and one of the eggs is from an Icelandic hen bred with a Marans roo. Has anyone had this breed before? I was hoping to find some pictures of what the chick may look like if it hatches.
I'm looking for hatching eggs in Oregon, I just had shipped eggs fail to develop and I'm hoping to have more success with eggs that aren't shipped. My shipped eggs were chickens that were sex linked, so that is preferrable.
I have three cream legbar eggs that started developing, it's now the end of day 14 and this is what they look like. To me, they don't look good but I've never incubated before and I'm not sure what I'm looking for...
Unfortunately, out of 13 shipped eggs, these are the only 3 that even started...
I have some eggs with detached air cells, so I placed them upright in an egg carton and I’ve been hand turning them 5 times a day. However, now the eggs appear to be developing saddle shaped air cells as well. Am I doing something wrong? How do I fix them?
I have three thermometers in the incubator, an Accurite, Incutherm, and a digital oral thermometer for fevers. I have the oral one in a water wiggler, and it’s been reading from 99.8 to 100.8, while the accurite and built in thermometer have almost always read 99.5, and the incutherm has often...
Hello! I have had chickens for about 6 years now, but I have never incubated eggs before and I have 12 eggs arriving from a hatchery next week. I have been doing a lot of reading, but I still have a few (A LOT!) of questions. Any answers and suggestions would be helpful!
1. Do I need to...
Hi,
I am hoping to hatch eggs for the first time this spring. I want to incubate 12 eggs but I am having trouble finding an incubator. There are a lot of mixed reviews, and many of them are so expensive. I was hoping to find one that is reliable but won't break the bank necessarily. Any...
Unfortunately, I lost one of my hens to cancer and I only have one hen left. I've decided that I will have to get some chicks so that she is not by herself, but because it will be awhile before they can go outside I'm not sure what to do for her in the meantime. Any suggestions?
Also, when the...
I would love to get a Silkie and/or Serama, but I have been told they are not very hardy. I live in Oregon, in the Willamette Valley. Typically we have a pretty mild climate but we've had some unusually cold and hot weather this year. I recently lost one of my girls to dehydration despite having...
