HI , all my chooks free ranged but i wanted to split them up so i could hatch out the pure breeds . how long should i leave them before i start to hatch as im not sure who has mated who . i heard that after mating the hen can hold the sperm for 3 weeks so shpould i start to hatch after a month...
i turned by hand in a home made incubator and had rubbish results but bought a brinsea 20 and you turn the whole incubator not the egg and had fantastic results , i think its down to luck and experience to be honest
awwrr i would give you some if you were near ive got 12 mixed lucky dip colour orpingtons in the bator now , cant wait to see what colours we get . ive already got a splash and she is so lovely

update , well put more eggs under her and on day 22 she got off and decided not to sit any longer and go a play with her friends . i candled them and looks like chicks died around day 10 ish . hetty is very happy and not lost any weight b sitting so long so all is good . im sure she will sit...
