We are having chick's just pop up with no mom around. We have a half acre with a huge flock so they lay everywhere and sometimes there are huge piles of eggs before we find them. Is it possible random eggs are incubating and hatching on their own without a hen sitting on them? Anyone have this...
We switched from a forced air incubator to to three still air incubators and are having bad hatch rates. We had good hatch rates last season and the only difference is the type of incubator. What are everyone's settings that work for still air incubators?
He/she has a bad leg that is bent backwards in the wrong direction. It started out as straddle(sp?) leg which I tried to fix with the tape but only one leg fixed and the other would never change no matter what I did. It is to bad to fix. I have seen different ways to do it such as cutting off...
So far I have had 3 turkeys hatch from about 20 eggs. Most of them were developing and then just stopped moving the close to hatch time I got and then did not hatch/try to hatch. The first one that hatched came out with no problems and is about 1 1/2 old right now. In the last week I have had...
I had 1 chick out of 4 with what looked to be sprattle leg. I treated it for that and one leg is straight but the other is out to the side and he/she doesn't use it at all. Anything I can do?
I have one turkey egg that has been pipped sometime between friday night and saturday morning and so far there is just a hole the size of maybe a dime. I can see the beak and hear peeping but it doesn't seem to be zipping yet and it is now sunday afternoon and still the same hole. How do I know...
I have a couple eggs that are past the 28 days and a couple that are at about 27 and i don't see any movement in them or any signs of pipping. How long past the 28 days should I keep them before assuming they are no good?
I have 1 chick out of 4 that has strattle leg. I have tape between the legs making them underneath of it just like the other chicks legs. Sometimes he gets the tape off and he still walks with his legs out to side. It seems like one leg is really far out and weaker than the other one. The tape...
We have a set of three chickens that are the same age. They are all way past egg laying age bit only two of them lay and the third does not. Why could this be?
I have heard that turkey eggs need to be kept between 50-65 degrees and at 70 percent humidity. How critical is the humidity percentage? I have got my storage humidity up to 58 so far, is this good or do I need to get it up higher to be able to store turkey eggs for incubation in about a week?
I have 4 chicken eggs that are on day 19. They have been removed from the turners and are on the bottom of the incubator. What happens now? When should I see them move and break through the shell? How do I know if they are still okay inside? This is my first time and I'm getting nervous that...
I have read two different things regarding the humidity when incubating chicken eggs. I have heard that for the first 18 days humidity should be 55 degrees and then 65 for the last three days and then I have heard 65 for the first 18 days and 80-85 for the last three days. I have 4 chicken eggs...
One of my turkey eggs that I collected from the nest on 3/9 has a dark mass at the top of the wide part of the egg. I thought this is where the air sack is supposed to be. What does this mean?
Can you put turkey eggs that are at different stages of growth together in the same incubator? I know you have to increase the humidity during the last three days so how does this work if the eggs are at different stages?
