    Free ranging pros and cons?

This is a great thread! We free ranged our chickens until the neighbors complained they were eating their garden. Now we only free range in the evenings, in our fenced in backyard. I love listening to them talk to each other when they're running around the yard, and they're great bug control as...

    Worms

I have her inside with us so I can make sure she's eating and drinking. We go outside frequently so she can free range but she normally just falls asleep :( she hasn't shown much interest in her feed at all. I have given her watermelon and scrambled egg and she ate a little bit of each. Well...

    Worms

She's very lethargic, she doesn't eat like she used to. She's losing weight. She doesn't lay much anymore, she used to be one of my best layers. I believe that is worms in her stool, which is very runny. I could be wrong but whatever I've looked at these are the symptoms of worms.

    Worms

Our favorite chicken has been acting off the past few days. We finally came to the conclusion she has worms. I bought a dewormer today at tractor supply but I'm freaking out! She's like our baby and we don't want to lose her. What else (if anything) can we do to get rid of the worms? Will she...

    Pools for ducks

I am looking to add some more water sources to our runs. I currently have a small kiddie pool and and 25 gallon tub from tractor supply. A pond is not an option. I wanted to get a bigger kiddie pool but wanted some suggestions. What do you guys use, where is the best place to get them? Thanks

    Flooring/Bedding suggestions?

We have a chain link fence for our run, so I'm sort of concerned the sand would run out the sides... Did you dig down so many inches before adding the sand, or how exactly did you go about putting the nursery fabric and sand in your runs? I have a chicken run and two duck runs I'd like to do.

No answers to any of your questions, sorry :( but hubby is wanting to do this with our coop. He googled solar panels and seems convinced he can do them. Maybe a google search would help you?

Play sand, construction sand, natural sand, etc. So confused!!

I've been throwing around the idea of sand in the coops and runs. Our current duck run is muddy and a little stinky. We can get it from a quarry near us for $15, which I bet is a lot cheaper than Home Depot. I've been thinking about Lea gravel in the duck runs, but it's hard to find around me...

    Introducing ducks

I have two females and a male. Unsure on the ducklings at this point. They are only about five weeks old but I'm just trying to figure out what lies ahead. :) thank you for your advice! My male kind of scares me a little. He's protective of his females with the chickens, doesn't do anything but...

    Introducing ducks

We have 3 adult ducks and 5 ducklings. They've been kept desperate but when the time comes To put them together they will be moving into a brand new pen. Should I put the adult ducks into the pen first, then the babies a little later, or vice versa or just put them in all together? Thanks!

    Rouen Duck thread

How soon can you tell the sex of Rouen babies? I have three, almost four week old ducklings. I had them outside the other day I can see the startings of one of their heads turning green. Males have green heads, females do not, correct?
