ok being how NO ONE replied... I went and tired it... Pretty easy to cut the wing feathers... I didn't cut very far down because I was sacared to get blood.. so I hope it works.. I only did it on one side.
Only did it on 3 hens though... I got sick of trying to catch them...
And also realized...
I have been reading a lot about clipping wings.. I need to do it as I am going out of town this weekend and my leghorns... only the stinkin leg horns want to fly the coop...
I am so scared to cut the blood part though. Has anyone ever done this and if so doe pulling the feather completely out...
So Saturday, the day before Mother's day I desperately needed feed. My hubby said, ok lets run ti the feed store real quick. Sooo we got there and low & behold CHICKS! OMG I could have resisted BUT they had little frizzle babies AAAHHH!!! My DH told me a couple of days ago no more livestock...
Awesome! Aren't animals so funny :}
I have to leave my back porch light on to keep a pesky coyote from diggin under the fence... Maybe a few Christmas lights are in order at my house too
I have one EE (2 months old) who tries to pick a fight with everyone, the big BRs and GLWs and the little leghorn hen and roo... But my other 2 month old EE is sweet and keeps to herself.. Sooo??? maybe depends on the bird?
My BRs are sweet though, didn't know they were known for a temper?

Still hoping for a good outcome!

My...
Just keep putting them in their by hand, and eventually they will know to go in there... They have to feel safe, and physically putting them in there is the only way to teach them!
Put a feeder and water in there so they will have a treat when they do... Maybe that will help coax them in. ...

I neeeed to....
yucky... I am not in the mood because it has been dreary around here the last couple of days...
I had a big plan to go to the feed store and buy more chickies yesterday, and I didn't.. because All I could think about is the stinky poo and shavings and dust that I would be...
