First off, not a pro lol, but when I see blood, I take a dry qtip and stop it. I use vaseline lightly and coat only the drying out membrane and tuck a fresh wsrm wet rag around the egg and put back in the bator. I wait about an hour or 2 and try again. Letting the chick rest, my nerves rest...
If u expect more pips today, but have none yet..... I would go ahead and help. I would help because it looks like his membrane is starting to turn tan and he hasn't really progressed is over 12 hours. Don't go on just my word though, I have assisted a total of 3 babies. I waited too late and...
Awww. I am so sorry. Happy to hear that you have 2 healthy chickies though. The little guy I helped out was slower than the others for awhile. I took him out once a day for electrolyte water/wet crumbles for a week or so. He just started flying this week, so I guess he is doing well
I am working on a coolerbator too. Tried the water heater thermo and wasn't too happy, so I am waiting on an STC1000 now. Hopefully that'll do the trick (I have 4 days to finish it up eek)... My LG is also being retired, after its first hatch... It will now be the chick ICU. LOL I had one...
Wish mine would go broody!!! They lay and could care less about sitting! LoL
Glad to see a few of us hatching at the same time. Wow 62!!! I have 16 this time.... 2nd hatch in a bator 1st time wasn't so hot. Am almost through with my first DIY incubator and hope to switch the eggs over when...
Just wanted to see if anyone else is due to hatch on May 30th. My second set (hoping better than the first since they aren't shipped). Ready to hatch along if anyone else has their incubators on :)
My extremely hard to photograph, feathered footed, four toed babies... it took ten tries to get the halfway decent pics. Hubby says I can't have a new camra this year... spent too much on chickens
In the flock that the eggs came from there are adult:
Serema, d'uccle, cochin, frizzle...
So... here is the feed store rescue bunch :) partridge cochin bantams X4.
How can I tell them apart?!?! I want to name them, but only one is clearly different to me lol and that is bc his (I think) comb is bigger.
Any guesses on hen or roo??? Just for funnsies (I am keeping them regardless)...
I was recently a local feed store "victim" which I had shared... but here are the pics... my favorite is the timid and fluffy one in the first picture !!! I am still learning, will someone tell me what colors they will be?? I think I know BUT I def could be wrong! And also, for funnsies... any...
Penciled is when it looks like lines??? Brand new chicken/cochin mom here. I am in learning mode! I may go back and get one more today, but want to make sure I get as close as I can to choosing a hen :)
