Ok- I'm going to a bird swap on Sunday (June 1) in search of ducks (CALL DUCKS), maybe chickens (and a peacock?) So I'm just like: WHAT BREED! Lol, experiences/preferences? Also, it starts at 7 and ends at 10 and by 8ish all the good stuff is gone :/ so its a buy-now type of thing and i need to...
Would grass (the grass in piles after you mow) be good bedding for ducks? Compared to wood shavings, at least. Would it be better for ducklings? It would be safer would it not?
Should I suspend my heat lamp from something or sit it on something? I have a cardboard brooder (for 12 ducklings) and I'm getting them soon, but what do i do with the heat lamp? I dont want a fire-hazard or anything like that, but nothing really to suspend it from unless i build something...
Hi guys! So i'm getting ducklings in about 9-10 days. 12 in total if they all hatch and here is the supposed breeds 3snowy call ducks and 9 cayuga/mallard crossbreed. I want to know any of your tips or tricks with ducklings and things that would help with them thanks!
well, I would assume so, but since the ducks are tamed they wouldnt have the natural instincts of a wild duck- because frankly, no one feeds wild ducks constantly but theyy're still alive so I would assume so but i wouldn't advise it lol
So I heard in order to help keep ducks warm during winter, you should give them corn. So, what corn? Regular field corn? Sweet, cracked, canned or frozen corn? It might be a silly question, but I'm a silly person. Lol, insight needed. BTW- I live in Iowa so temps can get pretty cold.
