Update: The chick unfortunately just passed away. Another one seems to be expressing the same symptoms. I think it might be something more advanced than stress. When she died, she kept straining her head back and spreading her legs out. When she was living, she would be unbalanced while she...
Hi,
I got chicks in the mail yesterday from my pet chicken. This morning, I noticed that one of the silkie chicks was laying on its side as though it were dead. Its breathing is very slow. I have kept an eye on it all day. I noticed that its stool is very watery and it is not drinking or eating...
I am planning on ordering chicks from my pet chicken and have most of my shopping cart full, but still have room for a few more hens. Any suggestions or ideas as to what breeds I should order? I would love to hear your favorite breeds! Thank you!
Hi! I have 4 eggs under a hen on day 20. 3 have them had already piped this morning. On one of them, I can see the little chick's beak! How long after piping do chicks hatch? Should I do or know anything going into today?
Day 20 with 4 eggs under a broody! Already 3 pips and I can hear the peeping of the one that hasn't piped yet. Anything I should know for today? When should I expect the babies to hatch?

I love my silkies so much and I haven't experienced frostbite yet (fingers crossed!). Your can anways put Vaseline on their feet if you do. My favorite breeds are silkies, polish, brahmas and Easter eggers.
Can you move a broody hen and her eggs? I tried to move mine to a separate coop but she got really frustrated and wouldn't sit on the eggs, so I moved her back. I haven't tried moving her at night, but I fear if I do that she'll abandon her eggs. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
