How do I tell if my ducks are male or female? I'm getting one egg a day. 3 total ducks. 2 have higher voices, and one real low pitch. Haven't seen any form of mating activity. They're about 6 months old.
I find if I chase the rooster trying to catch him, he spends his time running away from me. Establishes me as dominant. He'll behave for about a month, then get aggressive again. Repeat.
Thank you for your response. Looks toke the hurricane is breaking up, fortunately! I've heard you should not keep horses boarded during a storm. I guess if the building should collapse they'd be injured/trapped.
has anyone been through a hurricane with chickens? Since we appear to be near the cone of probability. Do I close them In the coop or let them out ? Any other hints would be appreciated.
Once my first started laying, we've only missed one day so far. And that week she had a double yolk egg. Now my second is laying, for the last 3 days consistently. Still waiting on the other 7!

I'm wondering the same thing. When we let the girls out to free range, squirrels often go in to eat their food. I have one in there tonight and I can't get it out. Will the girls be safe when they go to bed tonight if it is still there?
I got my first egg on Tuesday! The oldest 5 are 3 RIR, 15 weeks old. Though there are 3 hatched at the same time, only one seems to be laying: one egg a day. Not complaining, mind you. It's been forever. Have a total of 3 at 15 weeks, 3 at 12 weeks, 3 at 6 weeks. We had our first breakfast...
