    E-Bay Eggs On The Way!

Sorry I forgot to tell you I didn't like the wire draw dividers. It took too long to remove the chicks. I felt it was too small for the number of eggs I put in it. I'm going to stick with fewer eggs - that way I can do more hatches.

    E-Bay Eggs On The Way!

Here's a better description from "The Old Farm House Chickens" Isbars (pronounced ice-bars) were developed by a Catholic monk in Sweden around the 1950's. In 2012, when we acquired our first flock, it was said there were fewer than 500 Isbars in existence worldwide. This breed has become very...

    E-Bay Eggs On The Way!

I just order 12 more eggs, They're Ice Cream Bars. A cross between an Isbar roo (pronounced ice bar) and Cream Legbars. I have reading up on Isbars, they were created by a monk in Sweden in the 60's. They are basically an auto sexed, cold-hardy, prolific green egg layer. He died before...

    E-Bay Eggs On The Way!

Well I looked up DIS for possible reasons. Most of the non viable + DIS were from 1 shipper, great packaging, but rough trip. I never opened the incubator, there was never a temp spike or power outage, humidity was pretty consistent. It leaves poor turning - especially during the first week or...

    E-Bay Eggs On The Way!

11 chicks hatched, 2 needed assistance - I OPENED all of the others. Of the 11 unhatched eggs 2 were very early quitters, 4 brown ones never developed, Then the sad part - 5 DIS. But I do have 6 B/B/S Ameraucanas, 3 OEs and 2 Marans.

Pullets tend to look like the sire, and cockerels tend to inherit the hens Physical appearances. They use that to create auto-sexed chicks.

Yes 2 different answers. I did lock down on Tuesday around 8pm. So I only have 2.5 days (24 hour periods) so far. No pips yet that I can see.

Okay this seems like a dumb question - but I'm not sure which day is 21. I set the eggs on Friday July 24th at 7pm. For candling I started counting days after 24 hours, Day 1 was July 25 at 7pm, but that was the end of Day 1. By count tonight is the end of 21. Should hatch day be today or...
