I have small flock of 6 White Leghorns that are 10 months old. I would like to add some brown layers, & my TSC has RIR & Red Star pullets right now. Would either of those breeds be suitable to add? I'm just worried they won't get along.
Fleecy, my silkie roo lives in my bathroom. My dog got in there today. I don't know what my dog did to him. No visible sign of injury & no sign of saliva on him. I'm thinking he may have stepped on him. Fleecy is in distress, panting, & unable to stand on his left leg. Is there anything I can do...
Only 8 weeks old. Look at that comb & those waddles! He tried to crow last night, too. It was the funniest sound we've ever heard. And here I thought I was going to have to wait months to find out the sex of this one.
Lol
This is Fleecy. He's 7 weeks old & my only Silkie. He's kept separate from my flock because the leghorns were a bit rough with him. Since he doesn't have any flockmates, his pin feathers are a bit out of control. Is there anything I can do to help him? He won't sit still to let me help preen...
Saltandpepper2, I agree. I'd say pullet. Just a guess, of course.mine is the same age & if you look just above your post, you'll see pics of my little guy, who I believe is a roo.
It's ok if he's a roo. We can still keep him, thankfully. He's such an adorable little guy & so full of personality. He's my little buddy! I just hope he isn't a mean roo when he's older.
I moved the pullets today. They just couldn't be in the bathroom one more day. What a mess! They do have a fair sized run. We can't free range because of my dogs, but they're run is 13x10. The coop is 10x10.
My Silkie isn't ready to be outside yet. He's still getting feathers, (such as they...
So, can I use the Quikrete all-purpose sand then? I kind of live in the middle of nowhere, so being able to purchase sand in bags may be my only option.
I have 6 white leghorn pullets that I'm about to move out to their coop. They are 6 weeks old today. I have a 5 week old Silkie who we got as a pet, but I'm thinking it might be a roo. I have kept it separate from the others due to their growth rate/size difference. I'm wondering if/when it...
My Silkie is only 5 weeks now, but this comb just started popping up in the last couple of days, & it appears to be getting a maroon tinge. Does that point toward a roo?
My tiny little flock consists of 6 White Leghorn pullets (and 1 Silkie but she isn't kept with the Leghorns.) I'm looking to add to my flock, & there's a local guy who raises Rhode Island Reds & Barred Rocks. I'm looking to get 6 more chickens. Which breed would you suggest I get to integrate...
