i fill plastic cat litter buckets with very hot water and put the lids on to raise the temp in the coop on very cold nights. you can also set the waterer on top of the bucket and it keeps the water liquid a bit longer. hope that helps.

try posting this in the 'what breed or gender is this?' section. there is usually some very good insight there on this sort of thing. on a side note, i'm new to chickens and have cochins and she looks very similar to mine. hope that eases your anxiety a bit.

i throw seed/scratch in the shavings on the floor of the coop for them to scavenge for. they get to hunt and they turn up the shavings for me .

do you have a dog crate or a kiddie play pen of some sort as a temp holding pen you can put inside your garage? anything that will keep them confined for safety and the garage should keep them out of the elements and quarantined. Quote:
