    Strange duck egg?

They haven't gotten anything new diet wise... unless somebody found a new foraging spot with something delicious. They have about a 1/4-1/2 acre roped off where they wander about, so it's possible they could have found a fresh supply of acorns or different roughage they liked.

Do I have 5 male Ducklings??????

. A couple more pictures if it helps..(The boys are in the top picture - all of the ducks in the lower picture are indeed 'ducks'!) Before he ever changed color my khaki had curly tail feathers right between two and three months. I'd depend more on curly tail feathers than I would depend on...

Do I have 5 male Ducklings??????

This is one of my two adult drakes - his tail is actuall much less "curly" than my khaki boy - but my girls all have flat flat tails.

Do I have 5 male Ducklings??????

Voices just proved to be unreliable for me because of how calm my babies were... I have Swedish, pekin, cayugas, and welsh... I can't speak to the runners temperament but my girls were not very vocal. I waited until tail feathers started to curl to know for certain. Maybe somebody else can...

    Strange duck egg?

Maybe.. I got three or four medium/light grey eggs out of her when she first started laying, but they've all been indistinguishable from the others for a month or more now. Maybe she's trying to get back on the color wheel.

    Strange duck egg?

Almost everything except runners! Cayuga, khaki, welsh, Rouen, pekin, & Swedish. They're all almost a year now and this is the first time I've seen anything like it. It was just in one of the three community nests they all share. I thought it was poop or something at first but it didn't...

Do I have 5 male Ducklings??????

My Swedish is a talker - I feel like we knew she was a female for certain from day one. We hand raised and spoiled to death all of our baby ducklings - so they wouldn't protest at all when picked up. We have four ducks now that I was certain were drakes at two months. You'll know for sure as...

    Welsummer pullet or roo?

Okay thanks! I felt like I could see some pointy feathers in there, and some of her tail feathers look so long to me! I needed somebody else to weigh in! Thanks.

    Welsummer pullet or roo?

Bought as a chick from a hatchery offering 90% accuracy and a return prior to 20 weeks. This little one is about 12 weeks... Do you think I'm going to have to make an exchange?

HELP!DRAKE WAS MATED WITH BY DRAKE! NOW CANT WALK AND DROOPY BEHIND?

Could you tell me more about this? I have a 7 month old pekin who is easily twice the size of my year old khaki campbell drake... My poor little khaki boy has been being assaulted and so now I have them separated... but it seems to be getting worse each time I've tried to reintroduce them...

    The Olive-Egger thread!

Thank-you. That was my real question I guess. . . . maybe a stupid one -- but I just didn't know if all chicken breeds would combine/mix their colored eggs genes... or if some genes would just dominate and you'd have either brown/blue.

    Sexing?

Thanks R2elk! I didn't think either of them were making a distinct female sound from watching other youtube posts, but wasn't sure if 4/5 months was too early to guess, or really how long I should keep on the lookout for eggs just in case!! Their noise keeps the neighborhood's stray cat far...

    Female Ducks - Triangle NC

I need to downsize on a few ducks! I have one cayuga and one black swedish still available -- both are girls. The ones pictured are 2 months. I have an 8 month female pekin as well. I could possibly part with one of the welsh girls for the right price. These little ladies are my pride and...

    The Olive-Egger thread!

So... all that aside -- I have three blue laying 'non-APA approved' maybe "ameraucanas" who lay darling little blue eggs.... and maybe my RIR casanova will turn out some green egg layers.... Guess I'll see..

    The Olive-Egger thread!

Okay thank you!! I was starting to become really sad that Meyer hatchery had sold me a song and dance about getting ameraucanas and not "easter eggers" and that I'd been tricked.... Okay thank you!! I was starting to become really sad that Meyer hatchery had sold me a song and dance about...

    The Olive-Egger thread!

Thanks! We did purchase specifically ameraucanas they offered instead of the 'easter-eggers' for sale after doing a little bit of research on that aspect. I (almost ) have more blue eggs than what I know what to do with. I guess since the hatchery had both EE and ameraucanas they could have...
