At least two of my eight hens have recently started laying wrinkled eggs. The shells are not soft, just wrinkled. Any thoughts on it. Also, I threw some egg shells out in to the pen today and they went crazy over them. Could they be lacking something in their diet??
My 10 month old RIR hen has something wrong with her bottom. I noticed about 5 days ago she has alot of poop on the feathers below her vent and also looks like might be losing feathers around there too. I don't see anything coming out of the vent, but I can definately see the vent since the...
My little silkie became broody about three weeks ago. I tried to break her of it but she just wanted to sit on the nest. We got her 8 fertile eggs to sit on after about a week and yesterday she gave up on them. Now she's running around with her sisters like nothing ever happened.
My little silkie became broody about three weeks ago. I too tried to break her of this. She quit laying eggs and was jumping from nest to nest to sit on everyone elses eggs. We have no rooster, so I decided to get some fertile eggs from my father-in-law's farm and she is sitting on them just...
My chickens began laying eggs about 4 weeks ago. My RIR lays everyday reliably and my aracauna and silkie were laying at least every other day. My rooster moved out about two weeks ago and now I haven't gotten one single green egg since. I don't know if it's because it's colder now or because...

We are in the Seattle Washington area and would be willing to deliver him.
Pleeeeease!
I came home from work yesterday and found one of my new babies (about 6wk old) dead in the coop. A small, black silkie. I'm so sad. I think one of the older, bigger chickens must have hurt him. I feel really bad.
My chickens will not get into their roosting area and nest boxes.
We put a ladder and a ramp going up into it but they just don't seem to be understanding how to get up there. I have gone in to the coop and helped each one up but they will not go by themselves. I am afraid they will start...
So sad about your hen...but what wonderful story of the beauty of foster parenting.
I'm glad you still have one of her chicks. I hope this one lives a long and happy life!
Hi,
I'm a brand new chicken mama.
I have eleven two month old chicks and ten one week old chicks! I love them all, but especially my two silkies!
Please tell me how to get them to become comfortable around me. I read all the stories of people holding their chickens on their laps and I am...
