Huge egg-- now she's not laying

I had a Rhode Island Red do the same thing. She was about 2 years old laid pretty much every day. Every now and then she would lay a double yolker but this was bigger. This was a while ago but I remember the egg was pretty odd as well. She never laid another egg. She was never the same...

the "not-so-bad" Blue Wheaten Ameraucana Hatch of 2010

Hey guys this incubator is pretty cool, but I don't think you realize how big it is. It's dimensions are about 14 inches tall and 10 by 10 inches inside. It says it holds 100 leopard gecko eggs, they are about the size of large jelly beans. Just a heads up. Quote:

how do you breed for chocolate?

The Seramas carry the chocolate gene. Many breeders in the US are currently breeding in the chocolate Seramas into other breeds. Check out the Serama Council of North America site. Several people have bought birds from Jerry's(the original importer) chocolate line to do just that.

Possible to introduce new chicks to existing flock?

One big thing that helps is numbers. The more new ones you introduce the more the aggression is dispersed. Individuals aren't targeted as much when it is a large group rather that just one or two new ones.

Seramas For SuburbaBackyard Project? Or is a rooster still a rooster?

I had the same problem, always wanted a rooster but didn't want to bother the neighbors. My Serama roo is much quieter than any others I had in the past, both bantams and standards. There's a few videos on Youtube if you search for crowing Serama's, that's what sold me on them in that respect.

what type of breeds do they use on commercial farms

Other members here have found out that Trader Joe's Grocery Stores' eggs(at least some of them) come from a White leghorn strain known as Hy-Line W-36. This company Hy-Line produces several breeds of leghorns and reds of some sort all bred for specific traits. I imagine these breeds are fairly...
