Just buried the 2nd hen (salmon favorelle) to hawk attack. Looked out my kitchen window and saw feathers again UGH! this time the sucker was still on top of the bird eating with my mini horse standing right there pawing at it. I threw my shovel at it and it just flew on top of the corral panels...
Yup, I do the same and I bought a small patio chair set, two chairs and a small table to sit on out there. Be warned they will lounge around and use your chair and table when your not and that means poop on them. Mine are that black metal mesh type that I can just hose off or when it rains it...
I also have this auto coop door http://www.automaticchickencoopdoor.com/installation-video/ I've had it about 2 weeks, it installed super easy and aside from a power outage from a storm the door has worked perfectly. I really enjoy the fact that the chickens get out at first light instead of...
I have a Coop and a Barn. My year old hens rarely go in the barn but my now (22) 17 week old pullets seem to think its a great place to spend the day, they also now climb and scratch around on my hay stacked in there. They also poop in MY fenced off section, fenced out the horses (inside the...
I'm sorry but I am stuck on the fact that you said your pullet is a Wyandotte and she laid a beautiful white egg. I thought they were brown egg layers, mine is a Silver Laced Wyandotte.
I feel pretty good, my coop withstood 90mph wind gusts 2 years ago. Now a direct hit from a Tornado I dont know but I lock my horses up in the barn and my chickens in the coop when the threat is near.
So I've been integrating all my younger chickens, I have 12, 1 year olds. 23, 16 week old and 5, 9 week old EE's. The 16 week olds have been doing great with the big girls and all is well. I have been toying with my 5, 9 week olds because they have been out in the coop since they were 2 weeks...
Thought I'd pass this along for any Southern Illinois chicken people. http://coopsdujour.com/ Looks like its tour of local chicken coops and a get together at the end
My 14 week old pullets are all piled up in corners of the coop too. I have 3 levels of roosts and the older gals are on the top but the pullets are piled up in a corner. I figure sooner or later they will roost at night time. I have seen them roosting during the day on the roosts but not at night
I use thoes black triangel shaped bait holders. You have to use a key (that comes with the holder) to open the lid of the holder and put a chunk of poison, I buy that green colored one. Close the lid and place in the coop in an area that the chickens cant get to but the mice can. I put the same...
WOW I am completely horrified of this topic yet compelled to keep reading UGH!!! Although I have never seen a Palmetto bug (and yes that is such a soothing name for a wretched creature) but the thought of it stuck in my hair BUZZING sends shivers down my spine....eeekkkk
Hey friends, it was great chatting with ya
Here's the deal, I have no interest or value in this topic anymore, this is like beating a dead horse over and over, Ok, just to make sure you sensitive ones don't misunderstand the use of the word "beating" in that sentence that I did just say, I do...
