this is my roo and his daughters. I have been trying to breed rumpless with no luck , can anyone give advice on how to proceed as I have back breed for three generations with no luck yet.
I have heard of this happening randomly before it could be that they got coccidiosis from the soil or wild birds but it is hard to know for sure. Did you give them medicated chick starter crumble food?
Ive still obviously got a lot to learn about dominant and recessive genes - thanks for the input. And I would love to see a silver laced turkey chicken also.
so the rumpless hen you mention was not an araucana at all? Is there a trait for no tail in the wyndottes then. As there is a possibility that a wyndotte roo got in with the aras wher I got the rumpless roo from. Ah -ha!
Thanks prop toe, I did get 18 eggs from an unrelated strain to freshen the blood but only 8 survived and they where all badly vaulted so i couldnt breed from them.
This is good news, I have back bred daughter to rumpless roo twice and have got two young roos with less tail - but im not sure what to do now.

in the mean time maybe a mirror would help, your duck i just learned it helps with a lone chick, but be sure it cant brake it or cut itself on the mirror
