20% all flock and calcium on the side is how my heritage flock gets fed. Plus i ferment a couple cups of ferment and give human leftovers to the flock for variety.
Been fermenting feed for a year or two now. Mostly let it set for 2-3 days. Wondering if it becomes an alcoholic beverage/food for my flock ? Are they all drunks now ? Do i need to do an intervention or start AA group for these hens ?
1. Check on my chicken door make sure it is opening and closing right. Batteries went dead for the first time yesterday.
2. Go to work. Off for long weekend since i took off friday and we had monday off.
3. Reset auto chicken door since it is on manual open, Añd then put on Auto.
4 today from my 12. I am hoping they get feathered in pretty soon. I worry that they will get cold. Frankly for the end of November we have had excellent weather. Everybody says to make chicken tenders out of them but I say nay they stay! So i figure we will get new replacements in the spring...
Greetings ! Been awhile since i been on here. Last spring and early summer my 12 hens were laying prolificly. 9-12 eggs a day. Since it got hot this summer the numbers have started to dwindle. As of yesterday i got 1 egg. Much of the flock is molting. Getting colder now with our first snow...
I have two wansviews in my coop. Both aimed at the nesting boxes. They have batteries in them but i have them hooked up to solar panels that keep the batteries charged. I love them and check up on my girls regularly. My coworkers catch me checking up sometimes when the hens are loud lol
9 from 12 today. I suspect one is going broody as she slept in the nestbox.
*late edit. Found another egg in the nestbox. I shoo'd the hen out of the nestbox and took out aĺl the fake porcelain eggs so she had nothing to mother.
Yesterday my birds got to leave their run into the new electric fence. Our dogs came around and "tested" the fence and scared the pullets. So i got 6 eggs yesterday. Today the dogs were not let out. 12 for 12 today ! 😀
