My goodness there are some adorable chicks here!! Congrats all!!
I'll get some photos up tomorrow. My chickies are already getting tail feathers and pretty sizey wing feathers. And it looks like, again, I'm gonna get a lot of girls this time. And this time, I say, yay!!
1 more week left...
Well, my hatch is done. Got 28 chicks of 30 that were put in lockdown.
And here's a little photo overview. . .
The box of 'em all! The green stuff is alfalfa bedding. In the box are Easter Eggers, Polish, and an Araucana.
First up, here's a trio of Mottled Polish. Notice one has five...
Congrats all on their hatches and big to those not having a good time this round. I hope it ends off better today or tomorrow!
Which has me curiously asking, who here was due Valentine's day and still has eggs left to hatch? I woke up this morning to a ton of chicks in the bator, but still, 5...
I still have 17 eggs left! Most have pipped though, but it's been quiet lately. I moved all but one of the hatched chicks to the brooder, and haven't had any activity for at least an hour but it sounds like someone might pop out soon. . .
In the mean time I have some pretty mottled Polish...
For a V-Day hatch it's quiet today.
I've got several EE's out now, all different awesome colors (one pretty close to Tolbunt, a couple others just simply mottled) plus I've got a few Polish out too. One of my EE's has five toes on each foot, so it looks like my Houdan male has been workin'...
Got five out now. Funny thing is, the fifth is my first Polish, who was actually the first to pip yesterday. So far it looks to be mottled, not much lacing going on though.
Just waitin' for the next little fella to come out. . . I have 26 left!
Happy Valentine's Day!!
My first chick hatched out at 3:00 AM in the morning, the next two somewhere between then and 6:00 AM (I surpriisingly slept through those two) - So far all three are Easter Eggers; one is mottled with a hint of brown coloration, one is mostly black, doesn't yet...
Congrats!!
I have 4 pips now too!
I'm really wondering if I'll get my first chick on the first minute of Valentine's day or just a few hours beforehand. I know I'll sleep little tonight. Usually I had the bator in the kitchen but this time it's in my bedroom, so, sleep will be filled with...
It's a pretty bright image - Is it fused as it glued shut or is it permanently shut?
If it's just glued shut, and feels kinda hard or dry, try rubbing warm water over it, gently though, to get it to open. If it seems permanent, I'm sorry, I'd see how it goes for a day and if no better, I'd...
FINALLY after this wait I hear a peep!!
I'm sitting here, drawing something on the computer, and I hear this weird peep peep peep, and I'm thinking - "What was that? Sounded like a puppy whining, wait, we don't - Oh my gosh!!!"
I've hatched a lot of chicks before but this time y'all are...
Gee you guys are early Still nothing over here. . . No peeps, no pips. I'm expecting to wake up at night hearing a few peeps though. I usually have pips by day 20, sometimes one or two chicks out, but, rarely anything any earlier.
No pips or peeps here yet. I don't think I'll get activity til tomorrow though. Today is day 19, but when I break it down to hours, today's still day 18. Late tonight is day 19.
Yeah unless they actually say fertile eggs, yoJur chances are really really low for getting anything. But even then, Trader Joe's, I'm sure they don't actually sell and store them properly for the eggs to have much chance left of developing. Being that any egg must be well washed to be sold for...
